Period: Second half of the 18th century
Price:
€ 1.900
Oil painting on wooden canvas, accompanied by a carved and gilded wooden frame, decorated with geometric and floral motifs. At the center, the scene depicts a battle, with two main characters facing each other brandishing swords above two horses; at their feet is a frightened character, lying on the ground, while on the left side a third fighter has fallen along with his horse. In the background, other characters are seen engaged in battle. The composition is distinguished by great realism, typical of the late Baroque style, with a skillful use of chiaroscuro and very fine detailed rendering. At the bottom, there is the signature of the Viennese painter Karl Ludwig Reuling, accompanied by the date 1765, thus attributing this work to the second half of the 18th century.
