Painting with architectural capriccio, second half of the 18th century
Period: Second half of the 18th century
Price:
€ 6.000
Beautiful oil painting on canvas depicting a classic architectural capriccio, in a fascinating interplay of architectures and shadows populated by small figures. In an imaginary background landscape, imposing classical-style buildings stand, masterfully crafted in the use of perspective and shadows. Among these architectures, figures of various sizes can be seen, intent on strolling or standing, dressed in oriental clothes and turbans. The frame, also of considerable merit, is contemporary and characterized by carved wood with geometric decorations, embellished with a gilding of pure gold leaf. This painting, of extraordinary workmanship and production, is able to enrich any environment with elegance and class. It is attributed to a Venetian painter of the Giuseppe Zais school, around the second half of the 18th century.
