THE RAPE OF EUROPA SCULPTURE, LATE 18TH CENTURY
Period: Second half of the 18th century
Price: € 1.440
Splendid polychrome porcelain sculpture depicting the abduction of Europa. This work of art takes inspiration from the classical myth in which the god of Olympus, Zeus, transforms himself into a bull to abduct the princess Europa. The figure of Europa is represented as an elegantly dressed young woman, with sandals and semi-collected hair, riding the white bull speckled with brown, which looks at her with a complacent air. This sculpture, made with great skill, is able to enrich any environment in which it is placed with elegance and value. Viennese manufacture from the late 18th century.
