PAINTING PRESENTATION OF JESUS SECOND HALF OF THE 18TH CENTURY
Period: Second half of the 18th century
Price: € 2.800
Refined oil painting on canvas, framed in an elegant carved and gilded wooden frame. The painting presents in the center the scene of the presentation of Jesus by Mary to Saint Francis, assisted by a cherub. The artist has skillfully used chiaroscuro to give greater depth to the work, in which the central figures emerge luminous from the darker background, characterized by arched architectures, natural landscape elements and a secondary character. The figures of the Madonna, Jesus, the little angel and Saint Francis are treated with particular attention to detail, from the clothes to the attributes, and their gazes convey meaning and intensity. The painting is in an excellent state of conservation and is on its original canvas. It is attributed to a painter from the Marche region (central Italy) from the second half of the 18th century. Measurements: H x W x D overall 56.5 x 47.5 x 4.5cm; H x W work only 48 x 38cm
