19th CENTURY TROMPE L'OEIL CUPBOARD
Period: Second half of the 19th century
Price: € 1.500
Elegant trompe l'oeil cupboard, made of painted poplar wood and subsequently gilded with gold leaf. The gilded details are found in the capitals of the corner columns, and in the straight knob feet. But the real peculiarity of this cupboard is the painted depiction in the foreground of a Viennese safe from the company Wiese & Comp. The safe, semi-open and represented with perspective skill, seems almost real. Inside, with great attention to detail, are depicted sparkling jewels, money, precious objects and the portrait of a girl. Each element is masterfully painted, creating an effect of depth and surprising realism. The furniture was produced in Italy between the mid and late 19th century. Measurements: H x W x D 90 x 77.5 x 26cm
