BRONZE SCULPTURE PORTRAIT OF MOZART LATE 19TH CENTURY
Period: Second half of the 19th century
Price: € 1.200
Measures H x L x P
Beautiful bronze sculpture cast using the lost-wax method, depicting a young Mozart. The famous composer and musician is represented in typical 18th-century attire, wearing trousers, boots, a waistcoat, and a long, knee-length jacket, as can be seen and is well-known in his most famous portraits. His hair is gathered in what is the traditional wig, while his gaze is focused on the violin he is playing; the latter has an iron string on the bow. The sculpture is mounted on a bronze base, on the front of which is the inscription "Mozart", which identifies the subject of the work. The inscription "Chiparus Lamant" is also visible on the same base, and is probably attributable to the sculptor and the foundry. French manufacture from the late 19th century. Measurements: H x W x D 62 x 23 x 19cm
