Giovanni Panza (1894-1989) remained faithful to the romantic-naturalistic tradition in his painting, drawing inspiration from the Neapolitan school of the 19th century in his figurative representation. He specialized in the creation of landscapes, human figures, streets, bucolic scenes and markets, taken from the daily life of Neapolitan neighborhoods, with particular attention to detail. With his works, the artist intended to evoke places and people, situations and customs that characterized Naples in the past, distinguishing it for its uniqueness. In this painting, an interior scene is depicted, an aristocratic living room with musicians and also an ecclesiastical figure awaiting them.
